Final version released

After weeks of testing I've published the final release of Frontbox 2 today.

FrontPage and Expression Web

Some of the old FrontPage components (or webbots) require installed FrontPage Server Extensions (FPSE) on the web server. Microsoft decided to cancel the support for these extensions and consequently every webbot-based component was removed from Expression Web. Now there is no easy way to insert a component into a document with Expression Web.

Not all components require FPSE to be installed on the web server. Sometimes they benefit from existing extensions, but they don’t need it in any case. But, since components were removed, it is no longer possible to add any of the components, even if no FrontPage Server Extensions are needed for some of the components.

Frontbox

Frontbox reactivates some FrontPage components, especially those which don't need installed FPSE. Even if your webserver doesn't support these extensions, you can use any of the components Frontbox provides you, without being frightened that your website won't work.

Extended Navigationbars

The features of the built-in, webbot-based navigation bars are limited, but there is an alternative. Create full compatible navigation bars with Frontbox.

Code-Snippets

Expression Web supports code snippets only inside document's code view. Using Frontbox you can create code snippets and apply these everywhere.
